Death of Stalin - Iannucci
, watched this one a bunch of times and I really like the dialouge and acting. The movie just flows and is snappy. Don't watch it for a history lesson, watch it for Buccemi and Issacs. Its a fun political satire that is easy to rewatch. I saw this twice in theaters (RIP o.g. Movie Pass).

The Menu - Mylod
, guess I like a lot of dark satires that critique capitalism. But in my defense these have all been really good. This one is played the most straight and has the least comedic moments and I appreciate that. Some really shocking moments that makes the whole thing feel pretty surreal by the end. Ralph Finnes is really good and I enjoyed all the performances. But the whole movie I was thinking "should I watch "Pig" again."

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe - Murase
, is probably too high for anyone but Gundam fans, but I am a Gundam fan so 4 stars it is. The animation is beautiful, the direction and details are fantastic in the frames. The music is so good, Sawano knocks it out of the park again his scores are so good especially for sci-fi anime and games. The plot assumes you understand a lot of the Gundam past and lore, but if you can just push through the quality of the work is there and the pacing is really good. If you are into anime, particularly gundam its a must watch, but if I am being honest with myself if you are outside that target audience its not going to be worth it.

Triangle of Sadness - Ostlund
, it is definetly a spiritual sucessor to The Square which I think I liked more, but it is close. Well executed dark comedy that moved well has a great aesthetic and really well done characters. The Captain's Diner scene absolutley steals the show and kind of over shadows the rest of the movie but it also had me laughing so hard.
-
The Wild Robot - Sanders
, enjoyed this one, really good kids movie with enough there to keep me entertained. The animation and style are wonderful, did feel like it had 3 or 4 endings.
-
Close Encounters of the Third Kind - Speilberg
, kind of a big nothing burger, had too many characters and storylines for something with practically no mystery or suspense, just wasn't for me.
-
Crime 101 - Layton
, it was good, I was never bored, but it didn't really do anything special. Pretty paint by numbers, hated Ruffalo looking out at the "101" sign at the foster home like one respect your audience more and two what a dumb connection someone in LA grew up near an express way?
-
This Must be the Place - Sorrentino
, the music is good, Sean Penn is good, but its pretty much forgettable. Felt like the movie was trying to say something, but I honestly have no clue what it might be.
-
Project Hail Mary - Lord & Miller
, solid movie going expereince, glad I saw it in theaters, felt like it was better than the book, Gosling is really fun. Never a boring moment but still had time to breathe between story beats.
-
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple - DaCosta
, not usually a fan of horror, and some of those torture scenes I found tough to watch. The music and Ralph Finnes are amazing, as well as Alfie. I think all the story lines worked well together and complemented each other.
-
No Other Choice - Park
, another scathing critique of capitalism out of S. Korea. I really liked this one, top to bottom everything about it. Man-su's transformation across the hours is really amazing and well coreographed.
-
Ballad of Wallis Island - Griffiths
, really good date night movie, a little sappy but not overly so, with a lot of heart. At 90 mins there is no reason not to toss this one on some evening, really wish there were more movies like this made today.
